Bill E. Morgan

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Bill E. Morgan, a beloved husband, father, and lifetime educator, who died peacefully on March 6, 2025, at the age of 92. Bill was born on August 11, 1932, on the family farm outside Canute, Oklahoma to Guy and Johnnie (Music) Morgan the youngest of 5 children. He devoted his life to learning, teaching, and shaping the lives of others. A graduate of the Southwestern Oklahoma State University, where he earned both his bachelor’s degree in math and industrial arts and master’s degree in education: school administration, Bill went on to dedicate over 35 years of his life to teaching and inspiring generations of students at Centralvue, Calumet, and Duke Schools. He served as Superintendent at Duke Public Schools from 1968 until his retirement in 1991. Bill tirelessly lead the Duke Public School through the lean years sometimes serving as superintendent, custodian, grounds keeper, and bus driver. Bill’s passion for education was matched only by his unwavering commitment to his family. As a father, he was loving, patient, and wise, always providing guidance and support. His daughters knew him as a steady and loving presence, someone who could always be counted on for both a helping hand and a thoughtful word of advice. His pride in his children was immeasurable, and his love for them was evident in everything he did. In the school, Bill was not just an educator but a guide and confidant. His ability to connect with his students left an indelible mark on all who passed through his doors. Many former students remember him not just for the lessons he taught, but for the life lessons he imparted with kindness, humor, and empathy. Bill believed that every student had potential, and he dedicated himself to helping them unlock it. Even after his retirement his involvement at the school did not end; he served as a board member and was a true Tiger fan as you could often see him at sporting events, fundraisers, and helping the school or students any way he could. Bill married Ruth Marie Holloman on May 27, 1967, in Calumet, Oklahoma. To their marriage two daughters were born: Traci and Jamie. Ruth preceded Bill in death in 1996. In 2002, Bill married Karen Baird and they made their home in Duke. They enjoyed escaping the southwest Oklahoma heat by hooking up the trailer and heading to Colorado. He and his Karen Sue made many memories and were stead fast to their grown children and families. Bill is survived by his loving wife, Karen of the home, his daughters; Traci and her husband Michael Trzebiatowski of Owasso, OK and Jamie and her husband Tommy O’Rourke of Santa Fe, Tx; grandchildren Ainsley Trzebiatowski of Owasso; stepsons Rod, Steve, and Chris and wife Gaye Millard all of Duke; grandchildren Khloe Millard of Duke, Ethan Millard of Altus, Leslie Baker of Weatherford, Larry Millard of Elgin and Tim Millard of McLoud, and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings. Visitation: Monday March 10th from 6:00 – 7:00 PM at the First Baptist Church of Duke, OK Services: Tuesday March 11th at 2 o’clock in the afternoon at the First Baptist Church of Duke with graveside to follow at Roselawn Cemetery in Mangum, Ok.
