Linda Lee Phelps

Linda Lee (Conner) Phelps passed from this life on July 9, 2026, in Oklahoma City, OK. Linda was born in Hobart, OK, to Albert Sidney “Sid” and Geneva (Callahan) Conner on April 26, 1953. She grew up in Lone Wolf, OK and the surrounding areas. Linda, her siblings, and her parents spent a lot of time in the Alston, Georgia area with her father’s side of the family while she was growing up. After Linda graduated from college in 1973, she moved to Colorado. For much of the next two decades, Linda lived in the Western United States, including Colorado, Arizona and Montana. Linda moved back to Oklahoma in the early 1990s, where she resided in Carrier for a short time before moving to Enid, where she lived for the remainder of her life. Linda graduated from Lone Wolf High School in May 1971 as valedictorian of her class. Then she attended Brewton-Parker College in Mount Vernon, Georgia, and graduated in 1973 with an associate degree. Linda worked as a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service for many years before her retirement in the mid-2010s. After her retirement from USPS, she worked for the next several years as a crossing guard and lunchroom monitor at an elementary school in Enid, Oklahoma. Linda loved being around the children. She channeled her passion for interior design into in a “Home Interior” side business for a few years. Linda was an active member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Enid, Oklahoma. She participated in the Women’s Ministry and led a Bible study group. Linda was a much-loved member of her church family. Her Christian faith was very important to her. Linda traveled to the Holy Land twice in the 1990s. She was re-baptized in the Jordan River during one of these trips, and that was a highlight of her life. Linda spent her time gardening, interior decorating, reading, cooking, and enjoying her cats. Linda started sewing her own clothes when she was a teenager, and she was an excellent seamstress. Linda learned to play piano at a young age, and she was a very accomplished pianist. She enjoyed spending time with her friends and family. Linda loved being a mother, and her son Bob was the light of her life. She absolutely loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Linda is survived by her brothers Sidney Duane Conner (and wife Madgelene), Gerald Wallace Conner; stepbrother Samuel Briscoe; stepsisters DeEsta Baker, Sherry Moreno, Koelle Sutton; grandchildren Austin Stinebiser, Ariel Abbe, Jacob Phelps, Andrew Stinebiser, Ashley Phelps; great grandchildren Brentley, McKenzie, Lucy, Charlie, Connor, Teddy, Hayley, Paisley, Eric, Kate, Emmett; and a host of other relative and friends. Linda is preceded in death by her parents Albert Sidney “Sid” and Geneva Conner; grandparents William Allison and Lee Anna Conner, Harvey Clarence and Edith Lee Callahan; son Robert Earl Phelps, daughter-in-law Lynn Ann Phelps; and stepmother Gwendolyn Conner Roberson. A Celebration of Life is scheduled for Saturday, August 8, 2026, at 2:00 P.M., Lone Wolf Methodist Church, located at 901 Sixth Street, Lone Wolf, OK 73655. Interment will be at Sharpe Cemetery in Georgia at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages memorials be made to the American Diabetes Association, an animal rescue or shelter, or another charitable organization.
