Betty Jo Vickery

Betty Jo Vickery passed from this life on November 17, 2019 at age 91 in Altus, Oklahoma. She was born on November 10, 1928 to Robert Newton King and Stella (Dorsey) on Beaver Mountain in Haskell County. Betty grew up in eastern Oklahoma near Stigler where she attended school and graduated from Retrop. After graduation Betty went to nursing school and became LPN. She worked for forty five years in the healthcare industry, mostly in Hobart but spent several years in Mangum. She liked to needle point, embroidery, crochet, crosswords, and made the best peanut brittle around. However the most important thing to Betty was her family and her church. She is survived by daughter Jody Wootton of Granite, three brothers: Henry King of Granite, Johnny King of Elk City and Jimmy King of Willow. Betty leaves a legacy of seven grandchildren: Chuck Wright and wife Kelli of Granite, Rachel Nease and husband Shannon of Canyon, Texas, Kelli Halford of Mangum, Jason Wootton and wife Corky of Willow, Justin Wootton and wife Dena also of Willow, Joshua Wootton and wife Bertie of Granite and Melanie Reeves and husband Travis of Carter, twenty great-grandchildren, one great-great grandson and one on the way. Betty is also survived by a host of other relatives and friends. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Vickie Wright, sisters: Edith, Inez and Pearl and brothers Clifford and Leonard. Services for Betty are scheduled for Wednesday, 10:00 A.M., November 20, 2019 at the Grace Baptist Church in Granite with Pastor Tim Montgomery officiating and Shane assisting. Interment will follow at Granite City Cemetery. Public viewing for Betty will begin Tuesday, November 19, 2019 at 1:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Peoples Cooperative Funeral Home located at 1400 West Main, Lone Wolf, OK 73655. 580-846-9018.
