Billy George Colson

Billy George Colson passed away on August 16, 2020 at age 68 in Altus, Oklahoma. He was born on December 6, 1951 to George Columbus Colson and Beatrice (Blair) Colson in Mangum, Oklahoma. Billy grew up in Lake Creek and Granite community and attended his high school years at Granite High School. Shortly after high school Billy joined the United States Navy in 1971. He served his country for 20 plus years before retiring May 1, 1992 as an Aviation Mechanic. After retiring Billy worked for a farm implement establishment and then farmed for a few years. Billy always worked with his hands. He enjoyed nothing more than taking things apart and putting them back together again. If he wanted to, he could do just about anything. He liked to fish and in his later years loved his simple overalls. Billy is survived by his two sons George Colson and wife Jinkyoung of Guyton, Georgia and Nathan Colson and wife Kim of College Station, Texas, sisters Barbara Broadie of Ada, Oklahoma, Sharon Sandwith of Friday Habor, Washington, Janice Clopp of Granite and Nancy McGavock and husband Jerry also of Granite, Oklahoma, and his four grandchildren Ashley, Elisah, Chloe and Chelsea. He was preceded in death by his parents George and Beatrice Colson, his son Christopher Colson and three brother-in-laws: Larry Broadie, Harold Clopp, and Roger Sandwith. Graveside Memorial Services are scheduled for August 22, 2020, 10:00 A.M. at Granite City Cemetery in Granite, Oklahoma with Ken Hamilton officiating. The Navy Honor Guard will perform Graveside Rites. Arrangements are entrusted to People’s Cooperative Funeral Home, located at 1400 West Main, Lone Wolf, OK., 580-846-9018.
