Joyce Fay Young

Joyce Fay (Thomas) Young, age 89, passed away in her home in Mangum, Oklahoma on February 02, 2022. Joyce was born February 21, 1932 in Palestine, Anderson County, Texas to William and Beulah (Vannoy) Thomas one of two children. She married Thomas Leon Young on August 26, 1950 at the Baptist Parsonage Home in Mangum. In 1943, the family moved from Palestine, Texas to Brinkman, Oklahoma to start a new beginning. In 1945, the family decided moved to East View, Oklahoma. Joyce graduated at East View School in 1949. She worked as a nurse’s aide at the Mangum Nursing Center and was there until she retired in 1973. Joyce was a loving wife and caring mother. She received great pleasure in helping and if someone needed help, she was always there and could never say “No”. Joyce enjoyed working in her flowers bed and gardening. Joyce is survived by her husband Thomas, her sister-in-law Mildred Thomas of Duncan, Oklahoma; two daughters, Mary Rogers and husband Ned of Lone Wolf, OK; Martha Young of Mangum, and one son David and fiancée Karen Brunson of Mangum; eight grandchildren, Maria Meek, Lynett Duwe, Amber Galloway, Christopher Holt, Dawn Wanderbergh, Justin, Alexandra, and Joshua Young and 6 great grandchildren; Ashley and Andrew Miller, Brent and Isaac Galloway, Molly and Maddison Meek; two great-great grandchildren, Christina Quintero and Orion Bishich. Joyce is also survived by a host of other relatives and friends. Joyce is preceded in death by her parents, one son William Jeff and a great granddaughter Rachel Swanson and her brother, Henry Thomas. Graveside services for Joyce are scheduled for Monday, February 7, 2022, 2:00 P.M. at the Roselawn Cemetery, Mangum, Oklahoma, with dear friend Bunny Mitchell officiating. Viewing for Joyce will begin Sunday, February 6, 2022, 1:00 P.M. until 5:00 P.M., at Peoples Cooperative Funeral Home, located at 1400 West Main, Lone Wolf, 580-846-9018.
