Lynda Sue Godfrey Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Lynda Sue Godfrey (Currey, Niblett) went home to be with Jesus at 3 pm on November 30, 2020 at the age of 78. She was born January 11, 1942 to Monta D. Currey and Dottie Claudine (Russell) Currey in Daingerfield, Texas. Lynda is survived by her adoring husband Don Godfrey of Lone Wolf, OK; her son Todd, wife Angie of Norman, OK; her son Craig, wife Brandi of Austin, TX; her grandchildren Lauren, Nicholle, Allyson, Tobin, and Makenzie; her sister Dorothy Robertson of Houston, TX; and her sister Betty Nedd of Rosenberg, TX. She is preceded in death by her parents Montie and Dottie Currey along with 2 infant sisters and her only brother Carlton Currey. Lynda grew up on a small farm north of Hughes Springs in NE Texas. She married young and after seeing the world a little with employment moves, settled in Altus, OK. There she raised her sons while spending her career managing the operations of multiple grain elevators. Her vivacious attitude was known by virtually all the of the farming community across southwestern Oklahoma. As she approached retirement a ‘second life’ love story began with Don. They spent the last 20 years together, tending to cattle, tending to each other, and for sure enjoying live music. She was always by his side as he emceed musical gatherings in Lone Wolf, Warren, and other communities. A friend to all she met, and the sweetheart Don will never forget, she will be sadly missed. “One word sometimes will suffice to describe someone instead of several hundred. These words come to mind, frisky, crackerjack, impatient, bossy, sunshine, fun, gadgets and smart. These words will suffice.” Her last act of kindness was to donate her body to medical research. Because of this and the trying times we are living in, there will be no memorial service.
