Mary Lou Cross

Mary Lou Cross passed from this life July 28, 2020 at age 87. She was born on February 9, 1933, on her parents wedding anniversary, at the family farm near Lake Creek to Cass and Audra (Hogan) Grady. She attended school at Lake Creek and was an excellent athlete, playing both junior varsity and varsity basketball. She moved to California where she worked as a switchboard operator. She said it had it’s privileges because she was able to pick her own phone number and she chose 1000. Later on, she decided to work in admissions at the hospital. There she saw many stars including Billy Barney and Cary Grant. It was here in California she met and married J.T. Cross on December 24, 1965. Due to her husbands career she traveled and lived in places both far and wide. Such as Morocco, Spain, Algiers, Australia and Singapore. After moving back to Granite, she followed her heart and became a certified nurses aide for several years. She and her husband were Granite Senior Class parents for the Class of 1985. She was a member of ESA Sorority. Hobbies included reading, traveling, playing cards and spending time with family. Mary Lou is survived by her son Denny McBrayer and wife Julia of Pueblo, Colorado, her daughter Cathy Sirmons and husband Karl of Enid, Oklahoma, 14 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren and brothers Joe Grady of Altus, Oklahoma and Eddie Grady and wife Sharon of Midwest City, Oklahoma, and sisters Sue Everhart and husband Jim of Terre Haute, Indiana and Faye Russell of Granite, Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by her late husband J.T. Cross, two daughters Shelly Smith and Gayle Toups, one son Ty McBrayer and her beloved dog,“Puppy”. Graveside Services for Mary Lou are scheduled for Saturday, August 1, 2020, 11:00 A.M. at Willow Cemetery, Willow, Oklahoma with Pastor Sue Merritt officiating. Public viewing for Mary Lou will be Friday, July 31, 2020 from 1:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at People’s Cooperative Funeral Home located at 1400 West Main, Lone Wolf, Oklahoma 580-846-9018.
