Opal (Hogg, Murray, Snow) Norman, age 93, a longtime resident of Granite, passed away, Thursday, January 29, 2015 at Quartz Mountain Medical Center in Mangum. Opal was born in the Lake Creek Community on January 22, 1922, to Leslie and Luda (Darby) Hogg. Opal grew up on the family farm in Lake Creek and graduated Valedictorian from Lake Creek High School in 1940. She was married to Ralph Murray in 1943 until his death in 1956 in an automobile accident. After Ralph's death, she continued to run the family farm and care for their three sons. In 1960 she married Ted Snow, and they continued farming until his death in 1978. After this time, she moved to Granite with her mother Luda and brother Jack. She worked in Hobart at her aunt's dress shop until she “retired”. In 1993 she married Curt Norman and they continued living in Granite until his death in 2010. She also began a new career as secretary for her sons’ construction business, and continued at that until 90 years old. Opal was a charter and devoted member of Grace Baptist Church in Granite, where she taught Sunday School well into her 80's. Opal enjoyed going to the Senior Center with her friends, and always supported her children and grandchildren's activities. She loved her friends, family and church family very much. In the last few years , Opal became an avid fan of the Oklahoma City Thunder. She hardly missed a game on TV, and loved to talk ball after the games with her sister-in-law, Peggy Hogg. Preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Ralph, Ted, and Curt; one step-son, Eddie Snow; and her brother, Jack Hogg; Opal is survived by three sons, Johnny Murray and his wife Judy; Roger Murray and his wife Shirley; Joe Murray and his wife Ella all of Granite; two step-sons, Roy Snow and his wife Helen of Tennessee; Ricky Norman of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; two step-daughters, Sharon Callahan and her husband Neil of Sayre; Chris Ann Ennis and her husband Ben of Tulsa; two brothers, Robert Hogg of Altus; Dwight Hogg and his wife Peggy of Granite; a multitude of her precious grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews, other family members and friends. Funeral services will be 10:00 am, Saturday, January 31, 2015 at the First Baptist Church in Granite with Brother Tim Montgomery and Pastor David Hogg officiating. Interment will follow at Granite City Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of People’s Co-Operative Funeral Home, Lone Wolf, Oklahoma.
