Robert Doyle Hurt was born April 1, 1945 in Granite, OK to Alva Jackson and Gertie Eva (Henderson) Hurt. He passed from this life on June 27, 2018 in Clinton, OK after a courageous battle with cancer. Robert attended Granite Schools until he joined the Navy on June 11, 1962. He served his country for six years and was honorably discharged in 1968. Robert worked in various trades throughout his life and in each endeavor was successful. He was in the Fire Protection/Sprinkler field, mobile home maintenance in Texas, Oklahoma and Florida, and had a used car lot in Altus to name a few. Robert was a talented individual and liked to try new fields of adventure. In 2009 Robert decided to retire and return to his hometown of Granite to be near his family. Robert was a St. Louis Cardinals fan and enjoyed camping. He was a man not afraid of a new challenge and lived his life to the fullest. He always wore a smile and had a story to tell. His passing has left a void for many. Robert is preceded in death by his parents, his only child Robert Wayne, his brother Alva Joe, his sisters Marie Thornton, Betty Brooks, Genelle Ellis and Jean Hurt. Robert is survived by his sisters Joan Walton, Yvonne Stevens and brother Donald Wayne. He is also survived by his grandsons Kysen, Alex and Robert James of Utah, many nieces, nephews and friends. Tributes in Robert's memory may be made to The American Legion or Veteran of Foreign Wars. Cremation arrangements were entrusted to Peoples Cooperative Funeral Home, 1400 W.
