William "Bill" Metcalf

William “Bill” Metcalf was born to James Jefferson Metcalf and Roberta Mae (Barge) Metcalf in Hobart, Oklahoma on July 3, 1925 and departed this life in Hobart, Oklahoma on October 20, 2012 at the age of 87 years, 3 months and 17 days. Bill grew up in Hobart, OK and graduated from Hobart High School in 1943 and Harvard University in 1950 and continued his education at the University of Oklahoma Law School in 1953. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1944. While in the Army he served with the 133rd Regiment, 34th Infantry Division in Anzio, Italy, and was wounded while on patrol in WWII..Bill served as an Oklahoma State Representative for 10 years from 1955-1964. He also was a Lawyer and the “Citizen of the Year” in Hobart, OK. He was interested in the beautification of Hobart for many years. He was a self taught horticulturist who enjoyed his lawn and enjoyed classical music. He was a member of Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Hobart, OK. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings. Survivors include his nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
