Araina June Lankford

Araina June Lankford passed from this life on August 2, 2026, surrounded by her family, at the age of 81. She was born September 19,1944 in St. Louis, MO, to Harold and Dora Wilson. June spent her early youth in the place she has always called home, Steelville, MO. As a teenager, June and her family moved to Rocky, Oklahoma, where she met that Lankford boy that her daddy was so fond of; so fond in fact that he agreed to let her wed this boy and on July 24th,1960, at the age of 15, June Wilson became the bride to Jerry Nathanial Lankford, aged 17. If you didn’t catch it, they just recently celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary. This is something that they and their family are very proud of. June and Jerry made their home in Rocky, residing with Jerry’s parents briefly. Following that, they lived in several different towns in their early years, including moving to Missouri for two years before settling back into Hobart, Oklahoma again where they’ve remained for 45 years. From this union were born four children; Sherry Jean in 1962, Treasa Lynn in 1966, Jerry Dwayne in 1968, and Samantha June in 1974. June was many things throughout her life including a carpenter's assistant, slinging shingles over her shoulder and hauling them up the ladder so her husband could get the job done faster, to carhopping at this new place called Sonic because she wanted new tires for her car so she could take a trip to Missouri. June had countless hobbies. She could sew a wedding dress, and she did for her daughter Samantha, making quilts for all her children and grandchildren; setting up her band saw so she could cut out the figures that she would paint and decorate around the house with. When she decided she wanted to do something, just move out of the way because it was going to get done. But what gave her the most pride was her family. She cherished her children and grandchildren. She always said that she would fight the devil for every one of them and she would win. No doubt she was right. We all loved her back just as fiercely. She will be missed beyond measure however we wouldn’t take away her great reward of Heaven. June is survived by her husband of the home, Jerry Lankford, her children Sherry Simmons and spouse Ricky, Treasa Bolin and spouse Terry, Jerry Lankford and Kathy Lankford, Samantha Walker and spouse Steve; her grandchildren Austin Simmons and spouse Courtney, Augusta Keldsen and spouse Ben, Curtis Bolin and spouse Cesca, Matthew Bolin and spouse Rachael, Marisa Bolin and spouse Phoenix, Derek Lankford and spouse Jamie, James Jones and fiancé Madi, Shantel Walker, Steele Walker, Seth Walker and spouse Cameron, Savannah Shrick and spouse Brandon. Her great grandchildren Jaci, Abi and spouse Kevin, Cooper, Isabel, Ryan, Erik, Brianna, Mallory, Maybree, Peyton, Zoe, Jameson, Emi, Chase, Anthony, Aiden, Remy, Easton, Peyton, Addison, Uriah, Brasen, and Lainey. As well as a host of other family members that were very dear to her. June is preceded in death by her grandson Devin Lankford, her father Harold Wilson and wife Dorothy, Mother Dora Seifert and husband Clarence, and many other family members that she has been anxious to see again. Graveside services for June will be held on Monday, August 3, 2026, 2:00 P.M., at Lone Wolf Cemetery, with Pastor Chris Block officiating.
